Introduction

Hello all!  My name is Alex Miller.  I currently reside in Republic, MO, a small town outside of Springfield, MO.  About 3.5 hours from Stillwater.
I teach World History and Economics at a fairly large (1400 students) public high school in Springfield.  This is my first semester in the Educational Technology Master's Program at OSU.
I live with my beautiful wife of four years Kayla and our 16-month-old daughter Everly.
One of my passions is travel and I recently have been getting more and more into photography as a  hobby. Below is an image I took while hiking up a "mountain" (really it was just a big hill) in Wales.  I like this image despite its flaws because I know the story which comes along with it.  I was hiking and this sheep just appeared out of the greenery while grazing and just stared at me like I was the most interesting thing it had ever seen.   The sharp contrast of the white sheep against the greenery stands out to me.  I am reminded by this photo to always be aware because you never know what opportunities life may throw at you.   (Sorry I am not normally this philosophic.)
It is my hope that through taking this class my comfort level with digital media creation tools will grow and I can create more digital content for use in the classes I teach, both seated and online.
As I progress into this course I am beginning to realize that the content of this class is going to be different than what I want expecting.  I was expecting to spend time working with Digitial Media tools.  While we have done that, we have also spent some time delving into Media Theory.  I found this to be challenging, but that is not necessarily negative.  Simply something unexpected.

This brings me to my biggest question, "Is the inclusion of unexpected avenues typical of courses in this program?"  This is my first course at Oklahoma State so I don't really know what to expect.
I look forward to working with you all.
