AI in The Classsroom

I have to admit, the idea of AI assistance in teaching and learning intrigues me. At the same time it scares me senseless.  Maybe this is just me having watched too many Science Fiction movies, but the idea of a machine that can function on its own is one which to me opens up a seeming Pandora's box.

No to keep anyone from thinking I am some form of doomsday prophet, I do not think the machines are going to rise up and kill us all one day.  Neither do I think that a machine can take the place of a trained professional educator in the classroom.
